The reverend clifford matthews jr.


The Reverend Clifford Matthews Jr. was born in Riviera Beach, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida; The Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Reverend Matthews did additional studies at The McColl School of Business, Charlotte, North Carolina; The Gardner Webb Divinity School, Boiling Springs, North Carolina and The Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, MA.

Reverend Matthews is a United States Air Force veteran having served tours of duty in California, Turkey, and Illinois. Reverend Matthews was awarded The Air force Achievement Medal by The Department of The Air Force for meritorious service in the Nuclear Weapons Personnel Reliability Program.

 

Reverend Matthews received his call to the ministry at age 14. Upon graduation from seminary, Reverend Matthews was ordained to the ministry at The Pleasantview Baptist Church, Louisville, Kentucky under the leadership of the late Reverend Doctor J.C. Pyles, Sr. Since ordination, Reverend Matthews has served as pastor of Central Baptist Church, Kingsport, TN and The Mount Olive Baptist Church, Clarksville, TN. Reverend Matthews served as Minister of Discipleship at The Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC.

In 2000, Reverend Matthews was called as pastor of The Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. Reverend Matthews has had the opportunity to minister at the local, state, national and international level. As a member of international mission teams, Reverend Matthews has preached and ministered in Guyana, South America and South Africa.
